French Braid Updo 2020

Today I share this super cute french braided updo. It’s perfect for a fancy event that you might have, like Homecoming. This looks complicated, but in fact it is fast and easy!

Required items: brush, rat tail comb, spray bottle, hair clip, hair clips, 6 small hair ties, hair spray {if desired}.

Time required: 5-8 minutes

Difficulty: Medium

Step by step instructions:

1. Take a hair piece from the front and divide it into 3 equal parts. You will start a normal French braid. Cross the top strand to the middle. Cross the lower strand in the middle.
2. Next, take a new piece of hair and add to the top strand before going to the middle.
3. Pick up a new piece of hair and add it to the bottom strand before going in the middle.
Repeat this process for a few stitches.
4. Once you have reached the back of the head, add new hair to the lower strand to create a lace trim.
5. Once you reach your ear, stop adding new hair and continue with a regular three-strand braid to the end of your hair. Go back and pancake the edges of your braid. Secure with a small rubber band.
6. Raise your lace braid and out of the way. Cut out temporarily.
7. Pull the remaining hair into a low ponytail and secure with a rubber band.
8. Cut hair from ponytail (about 1/3) and twist. Pull on the edges of the rotation to create more volume.
9. Slide the top of the turn up and down on the ponytail. Secure with a hair clip.
10. Get another hair piece from the ponytail and add the end of your twist. Turn the two together and pull the edges.
11. Twist the tip, flip it upside down and fix it with a hairpin.
12. Continue the same pattern (a roll) until no new hair is left.
13. With your last spin, pull on the edges to create volume, spin around your bun and pin it down.
14. Now release your lace trim, wrap it around and wrap it around your bun.
15. Put the ends under your bread roll and secure them with hair clips.
16. Go back and pull out some small pieces from the front to frame the face.
17. Finish with hairspray {if desired}.
